15/1 - David Robinson
The county is very sad to announce that David Robinson passed away on 9th January 2023.
 
David became a member of Mildenhall Swimming Club in 1979 when his two children starting swimming with the club.   He was a member of Swim England Suffolk for 35 years and a founding member of the East Region board when it was formed in 2005. He held numerous roles in his time at county level including Secretary, League Secretary, Records Officer and President on two occasions – the second occasion was during the Centenary year of the county.  He was also a very active official and could be seen on poolside around the county and region on many occasions – he was a British Swimming referee and helped to train new officials. He was the East Region President in 2011 and has also been masters manager and records officer for the East Region, secretary and treasurer of the Fenland Swimming League. David was also honoured with the Swim England Alfred H Turner Award back in 2020.
 
The funeral will take place on Friday 10th February at West Suffolk Crematorium, Bury St Edmunds at 2pm and then at the Bury St Edmunds Golf Club nearby for the wake – further details to follow.
 
David is a huge loss to the swimming community, particularly within the county and region – our thoughts are very much with the family and his friends at this time.
