It was a smooth running event and were were lucky with the weather on the day other than the fact the water temperature was cold and it forced us to make wetsuits mandatory!

It was a splendid day with a smooth and successful event. Suffolk entered 46 Swimmers and only 3 either did not start or did not finish. We had Romilly Marks placed 2nd over all in the 1K event and Thomas Deaton placed 2nd and Noah Mann 3rd in the 2K event. In the 3K Ben Every was placed 3rd and Grace Robinson just over 1 minute behind him placed 9th. The tough 5K event saw Ben Howlett placed 15th and Madelyn Latimer Hicks 25th.
All the swimmers that participated deserve a pat on the back as it is quite daunting looking down the broad waiting to start your race.

Suffolk swimmers put up a great show with lots of strong swims across all the different events. The County's Open Water Secretary, Sarah Tate, was busy giving out the trophies and medals, awarding over 30 Gold medals, 5 silvers and 4 bronzes across all events, whilst also helping competitors from some other Counties who had no one at the event to distribute medals.
It was a great Championship Event with the weather being so beautiful and the organisers working very hard to remember how we did it all before Covid! The new Chip timing worked well once the initial teething problems were overcome and it would all have been much easier if we had done the same for the 1K event too.
Congratulations to all the competitors who represented Suffolk clubs including, Deben, St Felix, Newmarket, Team Waveney, Mildenhall, TeamIpswich, West Suffolk, Felixstowe Waves and Stowmarket.
Thanks also go to all Officials who gave their time and special thanks to Sarah for all her hard work before and during the event.
