National Volunteer Week

During the National Volunteer Week, 1st to 7th June, the Region we will be using social media channels to show “thank you’s” from across all disciplines each day. East Region staff will be taking photographs and gaining quotes from athletes, parents, and club workforce, expressing their thanks to volunteers across the region. This will also be an opportunity to highlight some of the ‘behind the scenes’ roles that our volunteers take on, which are not always at the forefront of athletes minds. It will help raise the profile of the sport, and its volunteer roles.

During the week Clubs are encouraged to also promote their volunteers on social media and to tag @Sw_EngVolunteer and use the hashtag #volunteersweek .

Some examples include;
  • An image of some swimmers (making sure Wavepowers guidelines apply!) with some ‘thank you’ posters, or a quote from them.
  • An image of a volunteer, and a statement about what their role is.
  • A coach or parent thanking their club volunteers
  • A statement from a volunteer explaining why they volunteer
  • A statement about young volunteers and how they are role models for your youngsters
