County Swim Camps

We are pleased to report that Suffolk County ASA will once again be supporting the National and Regional programmes by delivering 3 County Camps in 2019 for those swimmers born in 2008 (11 years of age in 2019).

The programme content and structure will be laid out by Swim England Talent team – this means that a National syllabus will be place that determines and then quality controls the skills being taught to and then produced by our junior swimmers.

The provisional dates for the 3 camps and venues are as follows:

  • Sunday 28th April 2019 – Ipswich High School, Woolverstone
  • Saturday 1st June 2019 – Culford School, Bury St Edmunds
  • Sunday 8th September 2019 – St Felix School, Southwold

The Programme is being led by David Harrison

The Head Coach on the Camp will be Nick Thompson

I am pleased to say that Debs Greenhalgh has agreed to act as Team Manager once more.

The Skills Coaches that have been appointed are:

  • Sophie Bellwood (St Felix)
  • Richard Snelham (Beccles)
  • Eleanor Llewellyn (West Suffolk)
  • Ryan Crouch (Team Ipswich)
  • Simon Hattan (Deben)
  • Brendan Clancy (Sudbury)

There will also be an opportunity for other coaches to attend the camps to observe what is being delivered and we urge clubs to send anyone appropriate to do so. This year will involve swimmers from an extremely wide range of clubs within the county, which gives us a great opportunity to spread the directive of Swim England far and wide if we can get observers from lots of different clubs involved too.
